New this week. Throw back to the best boxing game ever. - Wii - Punchout

So today we started playing the newest Punchout for the Wii. The biggest difference is obviously in the graphics. The same characters are back with a mixture of old and new from the original Punch out and Mike Tyson's Punch out. Some of the characters are also from the super cool Super punch out.
The game in my opinion is fun as it should be. The characters are still their typical stereotypes of the nation they belong to, but they are fun and active members of the game. My number one critique is that the game is very short. Only has 3 circuits unlike its predecessor, the Super Punch Out which had 3 circuits plus a special circuit. The added bonus to this game is that it does technically go longer by doing tittle defenses against the same characters and an even bigger bonus is having to fight Donkey Kong in the end. It's an overall fun game just to play and pass. I have not looked into the other options such as training or additional features, but I will do so when I get the chance.
Obviously the lack of multi-player is still the biggest issue of this game which, pushes players to other games such as ready to rumble and fight night. Fight night is my favorite game so far when it comes to boxing, but I still hold a deep love for this Nintendo original. I wish for Nintendo to step it up and rescue this classic game. Make it 2-4 players and I'll be the first one to try it out.

What we're playing - SNES Tetris Attack

Lately we've been getting into some vs mode on Tetris Attack for the SNES.

This is a sort of puzzle game where you have to make combinations of blocks that have the same color and shape on them. This removes blocks from your side of the screen and when you get awesome combos and chains you can send some extra blocks over to your buddy. As time passes more blocks pop up from below as opposed to coming from above in traditional Tetris. First one to let a block move beyond the top of their screen loses.

There are several single player modes as well to develop your skills or challenge the computer but multiplayer is always where it's at. Been some tense encounters over our TV lately. All of this is laid out with a Yoshi theme and characters from the Super Mario Brothers series. A great game you can pick up and get right into.

We're playing something new! - NDS - Advance Wars - Dual Strike

We have acquired some DS games lately and with it came Advance Wars: Dual Strike. I played the original when it was on Gameboy Advance and fell in love with it. I've always enjoyed strategy games whether on computer, handheld or board game over the years because you can get so deep into it.

Advance Wars was always able to scratch my turn-based strategy itch. It's fun to play on easier

modes if you're just looking to blow some tanks up but on the harder difficulties it will really challenge every move and decision you make. They do a great job of keeping it simple throughout the sequels it seems by restraining themselves from just adding hordes of new units for each sequel. Helps keep the game balanced so you need to use almost every unit at your disposal in some capacity to get the job done.

In Dual strike they introduce a few new units like a freaking MEGATANK! Check this thing out, it is just shy of untouchable. They keep it balanced though and give it low ammo capacity and short travel range. They also use both screens on the DS in that some missions require you to fight battles "on two fronts". You'll have one Commander character in charge of the battle on the top screen which you can leave automated or control yourself, and then the main battle will be on the bottom screen. Losing the second front won't fail the mission but it will make the main battle a bit more challenging to finish off.

As always it comes with the pass around multiplayer, the War Room with several pre set maps and enemies to clear but it also added another time sensitive multiplayer. Basically you'll have a set number of maps to clear with certain enemies and obstacles but you'll only have a finite number of
game turns to complete the entire campaign. It's tough.

See our Marketplace/Contact Us page up top to see what handheld platforms and games we have posted right now in our inventory and remember if there is something specific you're looking just email us. I suppose if you wanted this copy of Dual Strike I would part with it for you to enjoy as well.

New This Week

Take a look at what we got our hands on recently! You may not recognize it (I'd never heard of it) but it's a pretty cool accessory for the original NES that uses some of the same tech they developed for the Zapper gun (duck hunt). We're still in the process of testing it and pricing it. We never want to get you stuff that won't work with your family. Here's a teaser photo for your pleasure.
Will this be your newest gaming buddy?

Our Super Nintendo Page is UP!

Go check out some of the pics we got over there and the super duper sweet description of the SNES. Careful, you're gonna want to buy all sorts of games and consoles and accessories when you get over there. You've been warned.
